Hearing to consider the Legislative Analyst Report on Police Department Investigative Procedures (File 020869) to discern the comparison of policies, best practices and procedures of the top performing homicide divisions of large city Police Departments nationwide. This hearing will examine various technology information systems to determine which model properly fits the City's needs; to examine the prospects of instituting formal training of newly appointed investigators and performance evaluation procedures of investigators; and to consider ways of establishing a compatible system of linking pertinent data bank systems.
