Hearing on proposed changes to the budget impacting homelessness and supportive housing systems to examine the following: the importance of Housing First, outlines for any housing for homeless people in the pipeline, plans to decommission Permanent Supportive Housing and the impact on systems, loss of beds over the past two years and impact of planned closures, looming and determined threats to state and federal funds for housing coming up in the next two years, and outlines of any cuts to homeless programs and housing in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2027 and FY2027-2028 budget; reductions to budgets that impact unhoused people and the outline for an investment plan for a Mental Health Services Act budget proposal; proposed 2018 Proposition C Our City Our Home investments; and requesting that the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, Department of Public Health, Human Services Agency, Mayor’s Budget Office, and the People’s Budget Coalition to report.
