Hearing on comparative costs of hospitals in the San Francisco Bay Area addressing the following: 1) what are the trends and drivers of Hospital Costs in the San Francisco Bay Area; 2) how do the costs of services at different hospitals compare to one another; 3) is there a relationship between quality of care and costs; 4) will future development plans by San Francisco hospitals affect costs for members of the City and Country Health Service system and for San Francisco residents that are self-insured or receive health insurance from private employers; and 5) how has the Health Service System worked to control costs and plan to control future cost increases, including its support for the launch of the accountable care organizations.
