Motion asking the Legislative Analyst to prepare the following information about floor area ratio restrictions used in the cities (mentioned below) to limit the scale of residential buildings:
(1) When were the cities Residential FAR established (what year)?
(2) How did the cities establish the applicable Residential FAR standards (i.e., what was the methodology that resulted in the established residential FARs)?
(3) What have they learned from the establishment of these controls? Are there new problems as a result of these controls? Are they anticipating amending these jurisdictional controls based on what they have learned through the process of administering residential FAR controls?
(4) Have there been staffing impacts as a result of the residential FAR controls?
Research on the following cities: Albany, Berkeley, Menlo Park, Cupertino, Danville, Fremont, Long Beach, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Richmond, San Jose Emeryville, Belvedere, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Novato, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Sausalito, Tiburon and Marin County.
