Title: Hearing to discuss the City's standards and policies regarding lighting for pedestrian areas. The purpose of the hearing is to understand: (1) Which City agencies are currently responsible for setting standards, designing, installing, and maintaining pedestrian lighting; (2) What are the City's current standards for pedestrian lighting; (3) What progress has been made in developing the citywide street lighting plan and the street lighting standards for different types of streets that are called for in the general plan; (4) What are the current best practices among U.S. and world cities regarding street lighting, and how do these standards, practices and policies differ from San Francisco's; and, (5) What City policies exist about the integration of street lighting upgrades into major transportation projects.
