Hearing to understand the San Francisco Unified School District's plan for moving Newcomer High School to Mission High School. Questions to address include: (1) How would the move of 400 students from Newcomer impact Mission's renovation plans/schedule and cost? (2) How does the SFUSD plan to integrate the two separate student bodies? How will the Mission and Newcomer staff address safety issue associated with merging high schools? (3) Was the S.F. Police Department consulted regarding the move? (4) Was MUNI consulted regarding the move? (5) How does adding Newcomer to the Mission campus enhance Mission's community building efforts? How does moving Newcomer to Mission enhance Newcomer's educational objectives? (6) How will the schools coordinate logistics including bells and lunchtime? (7) What are the costs associated with setting up Newcomer at Mission including a phone system for Newcomer, computer system for Newcomer? Will the systems be independent? Who will pay for the costs? (8) How will the arrival of Newcomer impact the existing English language transition programs at Mission?.
