Hearing to assess steep growth of Police Department Budget since Fiscal Year 1999-2000. Since FY 2003-04 the Police Department Budget has risen from $295M to $365M, a 23% increase. This hearing will address the budget growth since FY 1999-2000. Requesting presence of Controller, Budget Analyst and Police Department Finance Officers to discuss steep growth in the Police Department Budget. What factors have most contributed to the rising costs in the department? What concrete steps has the department taken to mitigate these rising costs?
