Hearing on the status of the City's voluntary contract and monitoring effort to reduce 10 million plastic checkout bags by December 31, 2006, as agreed upon with corporate grocery store and plastic bag industry representatives as it pertains to 54 grocery stores over a 13 month period. Hearing participants include: the Department of the Environment, representatives from the Progressive Bag Alliance, representatives from the California Grocers Association, among others.
