Resolution urging the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in current and future requests for
proposals and contracts for all ferry operations to require the use of environmentally friendly hybrid
solar-electric, wind-powered ferries; encourage those ferry operators to phase out petroleum-derived-
fuel-powered ferries by 2005, and give preference to ferry designs with low wake wash, shallow draft
and quieter noise characteristics than conventional diesel to lessen impacts on marine mammals,
aquatic life and shorelines.
