Hearing on the state of current City budget with focus on several areas: (1) Survey of which services
delivered by the City are absolutely essential to the continued operation of San Francisco, with
discussion of which services have been essential and maintained by previous administrations in
previous economic and budget downturns in our City; (2) Analysis of increases and/or decreases in
the need for various City services as a result of the downturn in the Bay Area economy; (3) Review of
the realism of the revenue projections underlying budget decisions made by the City this summer, with
consideration of methods by which revenues may be enhanced; (4) Consideration of a program
whereby City employees may volunteer to take unpaid days off if it becomes necessary for City
personnel costs to be reduced from those budgeted for this fiscal year.
